GHC Community OutreachIn upholding its commitment to the underserved, New York Medical College often inspires its students and graduates to choose or expand their careers that directly help those who most need it.

Alumna Judith M. Watson, M.P.H. ’07, is executive director of the Greenburgh Health Center in White Plains, N.Y., a satellite site of the Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center Network. As one of the nation’s 5,000 Federally Qualified Health Centers, or FQHCs, the center offers comprehensive, affordable primary health care services to its patients, many of whom are uninsured and undocumented.

“We provide primary health care services regardless of ability to pay,” Watson says. “The fee to see a provider is based on a sliding scale, but we don’t turn anyone away. Even if they come in with no money on them, they can still see a doctor that day.”
