Community Connection Race for rehab

Physical Therapy students host seventh annual Race for Rehab

Sponsored by the School of Public Health, the 5K run/walk aims to increase awareness about the needs and abilities of physically challenged athletes. It also raises funds for athletes who lack the resources to participate in athletic events.

October 2, a bright and sunny race day, drew more than 100 participants. They included seven members of the Achilles Track Club (ATC), a world-wide organization that encourages people with physical challenges to participate in running events, regardless of speed, level of ability or age.

Proceeds from the race are donated to the ATC. In the seven years since the PT students began hosting the race, $25,000 has been donated to the ATC.

This year’s event raised $3,000 thanks to the hard work of race coordinators Chery Sun and Kaci Janson of the PT Class of 2007 along with the support of Anthony M. Sozzo, M.A., M.S.Ed., associate dean for student affairs and director of student activities and student financial planning.
