Online and on-campus students can access course, event and other important school information on this dynamic online learning environment site (Moodle). This is the site that online students access the Orientation to Distance Education, online courses and other relevant information.
Distance Education
The school offers the MPH in Health Policy and Management and the MPH in Environmental Health Science in an online distance education format. Also offered online are Graduate Certificates in Emergency Preparedness, Global Health and Industrial Hygiene. Students taking online courses should be aware of the computer requirements listed below.
Computing Requirements for Distance Education Student Skills
- Basic Keyboarding competence:
- Elementary knowledge of your computer’s operating system
- Basic knowledge of common software and tools such as:
- Word processor
- E-mail Internet browser
- Search engine
Software Requirements
- Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Web Browser (Firefox 3.0 is highly recommended and preferred, Netscape 4.0 or Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher versions)
- Email software or a web browser capable of supporting email activity including sending and receiving attached files.
- Antivirus software
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
- Adobe Flash Player
Hardware Requirements
For Mac:
- Power PC, G3 233 MHz machine or better
- Current Mac OS9 or higher
- 128 MB RAM (or more)
- 56.6 or better
- Sound card and speakers
- Microphone and earphone or headset (preferred)
- At least 40 MB of free space
- FOR DE Students only: Operating Web Camera is preferred.
For PC:
- Pentium II 500 MHz PCs and above
- Current Windows 98 OS or better
- 128 MB RAM (or more)
- 56.6 or better
- Sound card and speakers
- Microphone and earphone or headset (preferred)
- At least 40 MB of free space
- FOR DE Students only: Operating Web Camera is preferred.
Internet Access
- Internet access via a high speed connection
- Access to online environment for a minimum of 10 hours per week.
