This 18-credit Advanced Certificate in Public Health is specifically designed for individuals with a non-public health background who are now working in a public health context and desirous of acquiring specific skills or those who want to move into career positions in public health (e.g., biostatistics, epidemiology, research methods, or health economics and healthcare management).
Students have the ability to customize the certificate to facilitate an understanding of the basics of public health, prepare them to undertake research, and expose them to a more in-depth understanding of specific topics in public health (i.e., health economics, healthcare management, research methods, biostatistics or epidemiology) depending upon their own particular interest.
- Health and medical professionals, such as physicians, nurses, nutritionists, veterinarians, dentists, and other clinicians who would like to increase their expertise and develop confidence in their knowledge of public health issues.
- Pharmaceutical professionals, researchers and others who wish to increase their knowledge in the field of public health.
This certificate can be taken on-campus or online (or a combination), depending on the selection of courses. All required courses are available both online and on-campus but some elective courses are currently offered only on-campus. The certificate cannot be embedded in an MPH degree program, but credits may be used towards an MPH.
Whether applicants want to learn more about public health issues or seek a new career in healthcare, research or public health, the Advanced Certificate in Public Health can help further their goals.
