Speech-Language Pathology M.S. Curriculum
Speech-language pathology is a clinical science. We teach approaches to treatment that are based on sound scientific principles and investigations of clinical effectiveness. Students learn clinical reasoning based on critical analysis of the scientific and clinical literature.
Essential features of the curriculum:
- Case-based and problem-based learning promotes the integration of clinical and basic sciences.
- Students learn how to establish a diagnosis, set goals, develop a treatment plan, and modify treatment as the patient progresses.
- Curriculum covers the complete scope of practice.
Special information for applicants without an undergraduate degree in speech-language pathology:
Students admitted to our master's degree program in speech-language pathology, who do not have an undergraduate degree in speech-language pathology, are given a self-study program to complete during the Summer before they begin classes. This program provides a broad overview of the profession and an introduction to the terminology of the profession. There is no additional cost for this program.
