Community Connection

Aquatics ProgramPhysical Therapy students participate in the Handicapped Aquatics Program

Service to the community is more than just a good idea. It’s central to our mission, and woven into all aspects of the curriculum in all three schools.

Community service projects are required of all students enrolled in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. The result is a lot of good being done for many different segments of the community.

Starting in the fall semester of the first year, students begin identifying and planning a service project in the local community. The project must tap their skills and classroom learning experiences and result in a measurable outcome.

Implementing the projects and assessing outcomes continue into the fall semester of the second year, culminating in a poster presentation.
