The Pre-Internship Program
Year of Supervised Clinical Training
About Us
Beginning July 2009, New York Medical College will be providing a year of supervised clinical training in our Pre-Internship Program. This program will satisfy a year of internship at medical schools which require the internship year prior to receiving the final degree. This program has been adapted to satisfy the requirements for the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, School of Medicine, Mexico. For Mexico, "Internado Mexicano" (one year of UAG supervised clinical Training) and for the USA "Pre-Internship" are equivalent terms.
To be eligible for this program, you must attend a medical school that requires this year of internship prior to obtaining the final medical degree. Upon successful completion of the Pre-Internship (Year of Supervised Clinical Training, formerly Fifth Pathway Program), you will receive a Certificate of Completion. A copy of which will be sent along with the necessary documentation of successful completion to your medical school so that it can provide you the final degree. The degree will be verified by the school to ECFMG for your ECFMG Certification. Once you have your ECFMG Certification, you will be eligible to enter residency (you must provide this certification to your residency director in order to begin your residency).
