Stuart Goldstein, M.S. ’89, frequently finds himself caught up in the daily drama of emergency situations—it’s all in a day’s work. Goldstein is a detective in the Technical Assistance Response Unit (TARU) in New York City, responsible for setting up and maintaining communications among responders during rescue operations. He developed a radio channel called ALERT (Agency Liasion Emergency radio Trunk) that allows all responders—police officers, firefighters and EMS workers—to simultaneously communicate with each other in an emergency.
