Welcome to our website. The School of Medicine at New York Medical College is the oldest and largest of the three graduate schools in our health science university. The College traces its history to 1860 when it was founded in New York City. The main campus, now located in Valhalla, New York in Westchester County, is the site of the College’s basic science teaching, research labs, library, administrative offices and student residences.

There are over 1,400 full-time and 1,300 voluntary faculty in the School of Medicine in the six basic sciences and twenty clinical departments. The College has strong research programs in cardiovascular disease, cancer, the neurosciences, infectious disease, and nephrology. The program in regenerative medicine using cardiac stem cells is world famous. The curriculum leading to the M.D. degree is based on a broad set of educational objectives designed to prepare a physician to practice in the 21st century. These objectives include not only the traditional knowledge and skills required of a physician, but also the values and attitudes a physician needs to practice medicine in an ethical and compassionate way. New York Medical College has affiliations with excellent teaching hospitals in Westchester, New York City, the Hudson Valley and Connecticut. Students gain their clinical experience in a wide variety of settings, from the inner city to rural settings. New York Medical College also has a School of Public Health and a Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences. Medical students can pursue either a combined MD/MPH or MD/PhD degree.

The School of Medicine receives applications from a large number of highly qualified men and women and admission is very competitive. Our students rank among the best and are drawn from the top colleges and universities across the country. They score above national averages on the national licensing exams and are accepted in residency programs at top academic medical centers across the country to continue their graduate medical education.

New York Medical College provides an unparalleled education that prepares our students to be excellent, well-rounded physicians. Its mission is medical education, research and clinical care. We have embarked on a program to enhance our educational facilities, expand our research programs, and enhance student financial aid. We welcome new visitors to our website and hope you learn more about us.
