NEW YORK MEDICAL COLLEGE LEADERS TO BE INAUGURATED DECEMBER 9
Valhalla, NY, November 30, 2012— Some 500 guests of New York Medical College and the Touro College and University System will celebrate the inauguration of Alan Kadish, M.D., as president, and Edward C. Halperin, M.D., M.A., as chancellor for health affairs and chief executive officer, on Sunday, December 9, at a formal installation ceremony at 1 p.m. at the PepsiCo Theatre, Performing Arts Center in Purchase, N.Y.
Guests will include government officials, local business leaders, representatives from community organizations and associations, and students, faculty and alumni of the College. The ceremonies will commence with an academic procession of dignitaries and delegates from such venerated institutions as Harvard, Penn, Emory and the University of Athens (Greece). Greetings will be offered on behalf of many of the College’s constituencies including students, faculty, alumni, affiliates, administration and the Board of Trustees, and scheduled performers include a harpist, a children’s choir and the College’s a cappella group, the Arrythmias. Prior to each leader’s inaugural address, the board chairman, Dr. Mark Hasten, will bestow upon him an inaugural medallion inscribed with the seals of NYMC and Touro.
Alan Kadish, M.D., president of New York Medical College since May 2011, concurrently serves as president and chief executive officer of the Touro College and University System. Edward C. Halperin, M.D., M.A., a radiation oncologist, researcher, medical historian and educator, became chancellor for health affairs and chief executive officer of New York Medical College on May 1, 2012. He also holds the title of provost for biomedical affairs for the Touro College and University System.
