MEDICAL COLLEGE ANNOUNCES NEW CHAIRMAN
VALHALLA, N.Y., January 26, 2005 – New York Medical College has appointed Maria P. de Araujo, M.D., associate professor of clinical rehabilitation medicine, chairman of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, where she has been a faculty member since 1989.
Dr. de Araujo is the director of the residency training program for the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine based at Metropolitan Hospital Center with rotations through Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, where she is the director of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is also an attending physiatrist at Metropolitan, Westchester Medical Center and Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx.
Dr. de Araujo received her medical degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro School of Medicine in Brazil and completed her residency at St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan and a fellowship in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Westchester Medical Center. She is a member of the Association of Academic Physiatrists, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, among others. Dr. de Araujo resides in Hartsdale, N.Y.
