Disaster Medicine specialists engage in the development and modification of public and private policy, legislation, disaster planning and disaster recovery.

 

The Center for Disaster Medicine conducts interdisciplinary research, training, technical assistance, and educational activities related to emergency preparedness for disasters, terrorism and public health emergencies.  The Center for Disaster Medicine in addition to serving as a multi-disciplinary academic resource on a diverse range of emergency preparedness topics, focuses on two vital and unique areas: Emergency Preparedness for the Hudson Valley and Preparedness for Special Populations including children, the disabled, and the elderly.
