Science and Technology Entry Program (S.T.E.P.) is an ongoing New York State Education Department-supported college preparatory program for area teens. The university's program is held weekly in the Basic Sciences Building, where a number of NYMC medical students participate as teaching assistants, tutors and role models for the youngsters who come to the campus each Saturday.

The instructors in the program include New York Medical College graduate school candidates, first and second Year medical students, and high school teachers from surrounding communities, in which many of the young participants live and attend school.
