NEW YORK MEDICAL COLLEGE

Mission:
To establish a center for the study of the basic mechanisms involved in control of cell proliferation and cell death as they relate to the differences between normal and cancer cells and to utilize these new insights to develop effective tools for the diagnosis, classification, and monitoring of treatment in individual patients.
Goals:

The Brander Cancer Research Institute at New York Medical College is a collection of specialized laboratories devoted to:

  • Basic research involving new approaches to cancer treatment; 
  • The development of tools for more accurate tumor diagnosis and prognosis leading to improved patient care; 
  • The training of visiting scientists, postgraduate, graduate and medical students in basic scientific techniques in the fields of new drug evaluation, analysis of tumor kinetics and treatment, development of new approaches for cancer diagnosis and monitoring; and 
  • Development of a center in which scientists from other departments with interests in cancer research can communicate and collaborate.
