The Graduate Abstract

Hello Fellow Graduate Students!

I'm sure everyone is all ready for spring break, but before you leave for sunny beaches, we just have a few announcements for you!

  • First, we'd like to thank everyone who participated in, assisted in setting up, and/or attended the Graduate Research Forum! The event was a great success, and without your participation, this would not have been possible. We'd also like to extend our congratulations to the winners!
  • We'd like to remind fellow students of the upcoming Art Sale for Iraqi Refugees occurring between March 28-30, 2016!
  • The NYMedTalks will be held on April 8, 2016! We would love to have all of you attend. Be on the lookout for more detailed information as the event date comes closer.
  • As you have heard, the GSA has sold tickets to the Knicks game on April 10, 2016. We cannot wait to head into the city and cheer on the Knicks with our fellow students!
  • Finally, on April 17, 2016 we will be hosting a Yoga Wellness Event for all of you to attend. More information will be sent out closer to the date of the event!

Hope you all have a wonderful spring break! Get some rest for the last stretch before summer break!

Regards,
Your GSA Board

Hello Fellow Graduate Students!

We hope that you have settled into the new semester and have done well on your first set of exams (or will do well on your upcoming exams). Now that school has kicked into full gear for all of you, we'd like to make you aware of the upcoming GSA events for the semester!

Our first event will be a Take-A-Break on February 17, 2016. Come join your fellow GSA officers and students at the red couches, and grab some snacks to fuel up for studying! Soon after, we will be hosting a Meet-the-Dean event on February 23, 2017 (time to be decided). Come chat with Dr. Belloni about any questions or concerns you might have!

Upcoming in March, as you have heard many times, is our Graduate Student Research Forum. Come on March 15, 2016 to see your peers present their research. During the speaker portion of the GSRF, you will have the privilege of hearing Dr. Sung present on "The Role of the BRCA2-DSS1 Complex in DNA Break Repair." About two weeks later, we will have an art sale on March 28, 2016 to help support Iraqi refugees.

Finally, on April 10, we will be securing tickets to a Knicks game for a GSA outing for fellow students! It will be a great night of basketball and socializing with your peers!

We look forward to seeing both old and new students at all of our events! Have a wonderful semester!

Regards,
GSA Officer Team

Hello Fellow Students!

We hope studying for your upcoming exams is going well. Our Take-A-Break on November 3rd turned out great, and it was wonderful seeing all of you who stopped by! Another event that went well in the not too distant past was the Race for Rehab. We were so glad to see fellow students supporting a great cause, and we were able to donate $115! In the upcoming future, we will be having the networking night on November 21 at Copper Face Jacks in White Plains from 9PM-12AM, so come meet your fellow students outside of school. Food and beverages will be provided.

Looking towards next semester, we have two major events in our books. As you all know, the GSRF is coming up March 15, 2016. The abstract form for those looking to participate in the forum will be coming out in the upcoming months. Earlier in 2016, we are planning on having a ski trip to look forward to for the weekend of January 15th. We are hoping to set up this fun event for GSBMS students in the tristate area. If anyone has any ideas or would like to help with planning, feel free to contact Joey (our vice president!)

As always, if you have any suggestions or concerns that the GSA can help with, feel free to contact any of the GSA officers! Also, if you have any comments or concerns about the parking situation, please contact us and we will help to the best of our abilities! Good luck with exams!

Regards,
GSA Officer Team

Hello Fellow Students!

Now that the school year has kicked into full gear and most of us have already had our first (or first few) exams, it's time to look forward to upcoming GSA events. As you may know, the Graduate Student Research Forum (GSRF) is coming up in about 5 months on March 15, 2016. In the upcoming months, our GSRF Chair and Vice Chair, Yeabsra Aleligne and Aaron Conway, will be collecting abstracts of those wishing to present at the Forum.

In terms events in the nearer future, there will be a Take-A-Break on November 3 from 2:00-3:30PM, so come meet fellow graduate students as you prep for upcoming exams! We will have snacks and beverages laid out at the red couches to help lower those high stress levels. After you finish cramming for your exams, there is a student networking night at Copper Face Jacks in White Plains on November 21 from 9:00PM-12:00AM to celebrate. Food and beverages will be provided!

As always, if you have any suggestions or concerns that the GSA can help with, feel free to contact any of the GSA officers!
