Gastroenterology and Hepatology Grand Rounds occurs weekly on Wednesday mornings from 8:00 to 9:30 AM.
Grand Rounds presentations are provided by WMC faculty members, guest speakers as well as our current fellows. Speakers include faculty from other disciplines such as Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Pediatrics GI, Surgery, Radiology and Pathology to promote a true multi-disciplinary approach to the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary diseases.
Each fellow presents one Grand Rounds seminar annually on an approved topic of their choice focusing on the pathophysiology of the disease process.
Grand Rounds is preceded by a clinical case presentation, morbidity and mortality presentation or research project status report by one of the fellows.
Gastroenterology and Hepatology Journal Club is held monthly on Fridays from 8:00 to 9:00 AM at the endoscopy center at Westchester Medical Center.
During these conferences, faculty members and fellows will have the opportunity to review and discuss GI and Liver studies of high impact from journals such as New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, etc.
Additionally, a systematic review of a recently published practice guideline from a leading GI, Liver or Endoscopy society is presented and discussed.
Gastroenterology and Hepatology Radiology Club is held monthly on Tuesdays from 8:00 to 9:00 AM at the radiology suite at Westchester Medical Center.
The aim of the conference is to review interesting clinical cases with our expert faculty radiologists and learn the basics of interpreting barium studies, computerized tomography, ultrasound, MRI/MRCP, and transient elastography.
Gastroenterology and Hepatology Board Review is held monthly on Fridays from 8:00 to 9:00 AM at the endoscopy suite at Westchester Medical Center.
The aim of the conference is to review Board-style questions from the latest edition of DDSEP. During this conference the fellows have the opportunity to review topic specific questions with a faculty expert who precepts the session.
Gastroenterology and Hepatology Pathology Conference is held twice a year on Wednesdays from 8:00-9:00AM.
During this conference the senior fellows present a brief but comprehensive clinical summary followed by a review of the histopathology by an expert pathologist. It is an opportunity for the fellows and faculty to learn to diagnose and recognize common pathological conditions within our subspecialty.
