Peripheral Nerve and Trigeminal Neuralgia Services

Westchester Medical Center treats complex peripheral nerve problems including compression neuropathies, trauma, and tumors. Excellent electrodiagnostic facility is present in the Neurology Department. In the management of these disorders, neurosurgeons work closely with members of the Departments of Rehabilitation Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, and Neurology. Intraoperative neurophysiologists are available.

The Department has had a long-standing interest in the diagnosis and management of complex facial pain syndromes, especially trigeminal neuralgia. Patients with trigeminal neuralgia are offered comprehensive management, including drug therapy, percutaneous procedures such as radiofrequency and balloon microcompression, peripheral nerve ablation, microvascular decompression, and radiosurgery.
