Dr. Blanchette is Professor & Chairman, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, New York Medical College, and Director, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Westchester Medical Center. Dr. Blanchette earned his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and completed his internship and residency at the University of Southern California Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is certified by both the American and Canadian Boards of Obstetrics/Gynecology.
He has held teaching appointments at Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston University School of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Yale University, and the University of Southern California School of Medicine, where he is an Emeritus Clinical Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology. In March 2011, Dr. Blanchette was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Chapter at New York Medical College.
He is a member of numerous medical organizations, including former Senior Examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology; former Chairman of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology's Committee on Health Care for Underserved Women; and former President of the California Academy of Medicine. He is also a former Chairman of the Residency Review Committee for Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is currently a Director of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the American Board of Family Medicine. In July 2011, he was appointed to the Editorial Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
He has published and presented on many obstetric and gynecological topics throughout the country. His most recent publication, “The Rising Cesarean Delivery Rate in America: What are the Consequences?” was published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology in September 2011.
