How to Apply:

Applications for residency must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Residents are selected through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). Please use ACGME # 4203521136 - New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center when applying for our residency program. Successful completion of an accredited PGY-1 year and passing the USMLE Step III are prerequisites prior to beginning the residency in Diagnostic Radiology. During your PGY-1 year, residents are allowed to take up to 2 months of radiology electives and the elective must be done at an ACGME accredited institution.

Applicant Information/Eligibility:

Prospective applicants must submit the following via ERAS:

  1. Application
  2. Curriculum vitae
  3. Personal statement
  4. USMLE Transcript/Comlex Transcript
  5. 3 Recent Letters of Recommendations
  6. Medical School Transcripts
  7. Dean's letter (MSPE)
  8. ECFMG certificate, if applicable

Visa Sponsorship: NYMC/WMC will sponsor J-1 Visas.  Sponsorship of H1-B Visas will be considered on a case-by-case basis for the most highly qualified applicants.

Interview/Selection Process:

The residency selection committee, led by Dr. Anthony Gilet, meets on a regular basis to review applications and select qualified applicants for personal interviews. During the selection process, each individual's entire application is reviewed, including academic records, MSPE comments, USMLE scores, leadership and volunteer service, research and publications, and other significant life experiences. Along with the program director, the selection committee includes the chairman, additional faculty members, and current residents.

The process begins with an informal dinner the night before the interview where candidates get to meet our residents and find out more about the program in a casual setting during happy hour. This is an opportunity for applicants to ask many questions and get a sense of the camaraderie among residents at Westchester Medical Center.  We also encourage applicants to ask plenty of questions regarding the program on your interview day. The interviews are conducted by both faculty and residents. All applicants attend a didactic lecture during noon conference and take a departmental tour given by a current resident. In addition, many of our residents will be available throughout the day to meet with applicants informally, in-between interview sessions. We believe in the importance of seeing and hearing about the program from various perspectives, as choosing the right residency program requires a panoramic view, not just a handful of snapshots.

A typical interview day is as follows:

Time Activity
8:00-8:30AM  Arrive in the Main Hospital Lobby WMC, Greeted by Residents
8:30-9:00 AM Breakfast
9:00-9:30AM Chairman's Welcome
