Welcome to the University Budget Office
The University Budget Office (UBO) is a division of Finance and Administration. It is made up of two areas: Budgets (comprised of two managers and one analyst) and Restricted Funds Accounting (comprised of one director, one manager, and four support staff). This division is led by the University Budget Officer, who oversees the management and operations of both areas, and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
The Budget Department, under the direction of the University Budget Officer, is responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the University’s annual operating and capital budget. This responsibility includes overseeing the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of departmental and capital budget as well as other informational databases related to financial and operational matters associated with the University. It also oversees the preparation of the College’s Facilities & Administrative (F&A) cost proposal to the Dept of Health and Human Services.
The Budget team reviews and monitors expense activity to ensure that College resources are allocated appropriately and makes recommendations to senior management with respect to year-end balancing and long-term planning. It provides advisory services and acts as a liaison with other Central Offices-such as Human Resources, Controller’s Office, Campus Operations, Development, etc., as well as with the three schools of the University (SOM, SHSP, and GSBMS).
The Restricted Funds Accounting Department, under the guidance of the Director is responsible for overseeing special funds accounting activities to ensure compliance with accounting principles and Federal/agency regulations; and the fiscal administration of the College’s external sponsored programs.
