The training program dedicates sessions to general dermatology, pediatric dermatology, dermatologic surgery, mycology, HIV and other infectious diseases of the skin. There is a phototherapy center for psoriasis, a busy Emergency Room Service, and in-patient consultation. The hospital has recently opened a state of the art ambulatory surgery center which is available to dermatology residents for larger procedures that cannot be done in the regular dermatology surgery clinical session. Montefiore Medical Center - North Division is an inner-city, privately run hospital located in Northern Bronx. There is one dedicated pediatric dermatology clinic session per week providing pediatric patients for training of the residents, and a large general dermatology population as well. A new ambulatory care center was renovated in 2004, which provides as excellent ambulatory care facility for the clinical session. The dermatology faculty practice is very active at this site with two sessions per week. Sound Shore Medical Center is the newest affiliation to the program and is located in New Rochelle. Sound Shore is a 252-bed, community-based teaching hospital offering primary, acute, emergency and long-term health care to the residents of southern Westchester. Currently, the residents travel to Sound Shore for one clinic session per week where general dermatology, pediatric dermatology and surgical sessions are incorporated into each session. The Sound Shore program offers challenging opportunities and rewarding educational experiences in a supportive, close knit suburban environment.
