All the residents in the Department of Ophthalmology at New York Medical College are contracted with either Westchester Medical Center or Metropolitan Hospital. Financial arrangements, support and reimbursements are all structured according to the Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR). Salary lines are based upon PGY level. Each resident is allowed four (4) weeks of vacation per academic year. Parental, sick and other leaves of absence are granted according to the individual hospital contracts. Each hospital also maintains professional medical liability insurance for the residents. Insurance including hospitalization, health and disability are provided for the residents and their families according to the individual contracts of the hospitals. Living quarters are to be provided by the residents.
