FAMILY PRACTICE
One second-year resident and two interns care for hospitalized Family Health
Center patients under faculty supervision.

A first-year tradition. Interns are relieved of inpatient services and participate

get to know one another better.
PSYCHIATRY/BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE
First-year residents learn the delivery of acute psychiatric care on Saint Joseph’s
inpatient unit.
TEACHING MEDICINE
Under the supervision of an attending internist, one third-year resident and
two interns care for acutely ill patients who have no regular community physician.
FAMILY HEALTH CENTER/ICU
A study in contrasts: a two-week outpatient family practice experience is coupled
with a two-week taste of the ICU working alongside a second-year resident and
two full-time cardiologists. One to two per week.
SURGERY
First-year residents work on an inpatient surgical team with attending surgeons.
PEDIATRICS
Interns travel to Metropolitan Hospital, a New York Medical College affiliate,
for a busy inpatient pediatric experience.
OBSTETRICS
First-, second- and third-year residents deliver routine prenatal care at the
Family Health Center and attend the deliveries at nearby St. John’s Hospital.
Colposcopy is performed and taught at the Family Health Center.
GYNECOLOGY
First-year residents receive a month of GYN training at Our Lady of Mercy Medical
Center, a New York Medical College affiliate.
