Patient Care Services:
Neurosurgical Oncology Program
The Neurosurgical Oncology Program provides a comprehensive approach to malignant and benign tumors of the nervous system. The Department works in close collaboration with the Departments of Oncology, Radiation Medicine, Neuro-radiology, and Neurology in this effort. Pre-operative 3-D modeling is combined with an intra-operative real time image guidance system to optimize outcome in these procedures.
Patients are discussed by a Tumor Board that meets weekly and are offered comprehensive multispecialty care. Regular meetings are held to develop protocols and treatment paradigms to ensure continuity of care and to explore basic science research related to neurosurgical oncology.
Department members participate in national protocols to enroll patients and also conduct basic neurosurgical oncology research.
