Department of Pediatrics Hosts Sixth Annual Assistant Professor Pediatric Research Symposium (InTouch 12-5-16)

The Sixth Annual Assistant Professor Pediatric Research Symposium, hosted by the Department of Pediatrics and the Children’s Health and Research Foundation, Inc., and chaired by Mitchell S. Cairo, M.D., third from left, professor of pediatrics, medicine, pathology, microbiology and immunology, and cell biology and anatomy, was held on November 16. The symposium featured abstracts in an oral platform session in basic, clinical, quality and translational research areas in the field of pediatrics, followed by a general poster session. Michael H. Gewitz, M.D., far left, professor of pediatrics and vice chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, D. Douglas Miller, M.D., C.M., M.B.A., second from right, dean of the School of Medicine,  and Leonard J. Newman, M.D. ’70, far right, professor and chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, joined the the presenters, from left: Wen Luo, Ph.D., assistant professor of pediatrics (basic research);  Jessica Hochberg, M.D., assistant professor of pediatrics (clinical research); Suzanne Braniecki, Ph.D., assistant professor of pediatrics (clinical research); and Govindaiah Vinukonda, Ph.D.,  research assistant professor of pediatrics.
