First-year Dental Student Sworn into the U.S. Air Force

Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) at New York Medical College student Jaymes Furnival, center, entered military service as a U.S. Air Force 2nd Lieutenant Reservist on February 22. He will continue his dental studies with support from an Air Force Health Professions Scholarship and participate in Commissioned Officer Training during summers while he completes his education. After graduating, he will be promoted to Captain and serve as an Air Force dentist. Jay P. Goldsmith, D.M.D., far right, TCDM founding dean, who was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam era administered the military oath. "I am honored that the school took the time to set up the induction ceremony with the Dean's participation," said Mr. Furnival. "The school made this a very memorable event for me and my family."
