D.P.T. Class of 2017 Celebrates at Thirteenth Annual Doctoral Project Presentation Day

Candidates for the degree doctorate of physical therapy (D.P.T.) in the School of Health Sciences and Practice, took one step closer to graduation on April 20 when they presented their research projects at the Thirteenth Annual Doctoral Project Presentation Day.

Candidates for the degree doctorate of physical therapy (D.P.T.) in the School of Health Sciences and Practice, took one step closer to graduation on April 20 when they presented their research projects at the Thirteenth Annual Doctoral Project Presentation Day. Groups of students presented 11 platform presentations on their work on issues in one of three areas germane to physical therapy: clinical research, education, or service. Breathing a collective sigh of relief after completing the graduation requisite, the D.P.T. Class of 2017 listened to keynote speaker Marilyn Moffat, P.T., D.P.T., Ph.D., D.Sc. (hon), GCS, CSCS, CEEAA, FAPTA, professor of physical therapy at the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, who presented “Prevention and Management of Non-communicable Diseases: The Role of Physical Therapists.” Dr. Moffat, a practitioner, teacher, consultant and author, is a recognized leader in physical therapy in the United States and internationally, and served a six-year term as president of the American Physical Therapy Association.
