HSL Hosts Exhibit and Special Presentation on Violence Against Women

The Health Sciences Library hosted a special presentation on March 21 by Padmini Murthy, M.D., M.P.H., M.S., M.Phil., CHES, left, professor of health policy and management and global health director in the School of Health Sciences and Practice and clinical assistant professor of family and community medicine in the School of Medicine. The presentation, "Role of Women Physicians in Addressing Gender Based Violence (GBV) AMWA and Human Trafficking," was held in conjunction with the exhibit the HSL is currently hosting, "Confronting Violence: Improving Women's Lives." The exhibit, produced by the National Library of Medicine, explores the stories of the nurses who witnessed the effects of domestic violence and campaigned for change. Marie T. Ascher, M.S., M.P.H., the Lillian Hetrick Huber Endowed Director Health Sciences Library, welcomed Dr. Murthy who also serves as NGO Representative of the Medical Women's International Association to the United Nations, NGO CSW NY Executive Member to the United Nations and Program Chair International Health Section, Governing Councilor of the American Public Health Association. The exhibit will be on display through April 8 in the School of Health Sciences and Practice building and April 9 - 21 in the Skyline building.
