VALHALLA, N.Y., August 2, 2017—New York Medical College announced today they will be receiving $503,938 in federal funding for medical research through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
The HHS funding will support the work of Sachin Gupte, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of pharmacology, who is studying the development of vascular disease and heart failure.
“New York Medical College is known internationally for its work on the regulation of human blood pressure and the treatment of hypertension,” said Edward C. Halperin, M.D., M.A., NYMC chancellor and chief executive officer. “Dr. Gupte’s work builds upon this great tradition.”
“New York Medical College is a leading biomedical research institution, and these federal funds will help advance its groundbreaking research,” said Congresswoman Lowey. “This funding will support research that improves our understanding of vascular disease and heart failure and stimulates the development of new treatments. I will continue my work as Ranking Member on the House Appropriations Committee to secure greater funding for medical research institutions, so that they can help Americans live longer, healthier lives.”
