Valhalla, NY, – In line with the official start of summer—peak Lyme disease season—New York Medical College (NYMC) announced the seasonal opening of its Lyme Disease Diagnostic Center at 19 Bradhurst Avenue, Hawthorne, NY. Operating on a walk-in basis, the Center will be open June 3r through August 29 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Valhalla, NY, – The New York Medical College (NYMC) Center for Disaster Medicine, the New York State Center of Excellence in Precision Responses to Bioterrorism and Disasters, will receive $925,000 from New York State, a major increase in funding for a vitally needed program. New York State increased its financial support for the Center from an initial annual pledge of $500,000 to $925,000, a sum that is matched by NYMC in support of the expanding work and impact of the Center.

Holz, Ph.D., the dean of the Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences at New York Medical College (NYMC), will be honored by Westchester Magazine as a 2019 Westchester County “Healthcare Hero.” Dr. Holz was selected along with nine other individuals for her work in community service, innovative research and leadership in the local Westchester medical community.

VALHALLA, NY – Today at noon, seniors at New York Medical College (NYMC) School of Medicine (SOM), along with graduating medical students across the nation, found out where they were matched to medical residency programs. Conducted annually by the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP), the Match uses a computer algorithm to match the preferences of applicants with the preferences of residency programs, in order to fill the available training positions at U.S. teaching hospitals.

Valhalla, New York – On Thursday, January 31^st, the TruMada Initiative hosted presentations by 3 Israeli companies to members of the TruMada Investor Club. The TruMada Initiative helps post-incubated Israeli biomedical startups expand their companies into the U.S. market and helps them commercialize their unique offerings. In addition to the office space, laboratory services and business development provided through BioInc@NYMC, New York Medical College’s (NYMC) biotechnology incubator and New York State-designated Innovation Hot Spot, companies receive the additional support of investor events and capital access through the TruMada Management Company.

Valhalla, New York – New York Medical College’s (NYMC) Dean of the Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences, Marina K. Holz, Ph.D., has been named to Scientific Advisory Board of The LAM Foundation. The foundation urgently seeks safe and effective treatments, and ultimately a cure, for lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) – a rare lung disease – through advocacy and the funding of promising research.

Valhalla, New York – New York Medical College’s (NYMC) Center for Disaster Medicine hosted a symposium on the current state and future direction of disaster medicine and preparedness. The five-hour conference brought experts together to educate the community on how to prepare for various mass casualty events.
