Description and Evaluation :
This course will concentrate on mechanisms that contribute to cardiac dysfunction in a number of disease states. The course work will consist of lectures, directed readings and in class presentations. Students will be evaluated on 1) a midterm exam (30%), 2) a final exam (30%), and 3) a term paper on a topic determined in consultation with a faculty member (30%). The remaining 10% of the grade will be determined by class participation and preparation. A tentative list of topic areas and faculty are given below. The course will meet 2 hours each week.
