The conference, Medicine at the Millennium: Looking at the Past, Planning for the Future attracted more than 650 students, faculty, staff and guests of New York Medical College in October. Among the leading scientists who spoke to the enthusiastic audience were Luc Montagnier, M.D., left, co-discoverer of the AIDS virus, and Judah Folkman, M.D., right, researcher in angiogenesis. Arnold S. Relman, M.D., center right, editor-in-chief emeritus of The New England Journal of Medicine, moderated the symposium which was the brainchild of Albert B. Lowenfels, M.D., center left, professor of surgery.
