Health Sciences Library The Health Sciences Library (HSL) is the largest medical library in the Hudson Valley region. Located in the Basic Sciences Building, it maintains a collection of more than 176,000 volumes and 2,200 journals, of which approximately 1,100 are current. The HSL serves faculty, students, residents, fellows and staff of the university and provides a full array of information services. Special memberships are available for health professionals, associated companies, research institutions and other organizations in the region. Fees are reasonable but are an important source of support for maintaining and enhancing the library resources of this private university. The HSL offers self-service and fee-based staff photocopy services. As an area library of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, the HSL affords interlibrary loans that are available electronically from MEDLINE searches through the Internet by using the Loansome Doc ordering connection on Internet Grateful Med and PubMed, with delivery by mail, fax or e-mail. Literature searches are performed by the staff and fees depend on the scope of the search and the staff time required. Searches may be requested from an array of online and CD-ROM databases. Further information is available via e-mail to: msl_nymc@nymc.edu or by calling 914/594-4210.
