CALL FOR NOMINATIONS


THE 2008 DEAN'S RESEARCH AWARD
 
Nominations will be accepted from faculty, administration and students,
and must be submitted to the Office of Research Administration
no later than Thursday, October 2, 200
8
 

An award will be made for accomplishments in research in basic or clinical sciences, behavioral or social sciences, health services or medical education, or a combination, in recognition of one or more of the following:

  • A noteworthy body of scientific work or a specific achievement in science
  • The initiation of a significant scientific discipline at the College
  • Exceptional leadership for growth and success of the College research programs

Nominations:

At the time of nomination, nominees will hold a full-time faculty appointment and generally will have held such an appointment for at least three years. Nominations of candidates from other than the nominator’s department are encouraged. An individual may nominate only one candidate.

Nominations must be made on the form found here.  Complete and save the form to your computer. The form and only the required supporting material (summary of accomplishments, curriculum vitae, publications) must be combined and e-mailed, as one .pdf file using Adobe Acrobat, to the Office of Research Administration at ora@nymc.edu by Thursday, October 2, 2008. In addition, one signed hard copy of the nomination form, should be received in the Office of Research Administration by the same date.

Selection:

A Selection Committee will be established to review nominations and make recommendations to the Dean based on the above criteria.

Nominees not selected in a particular year are considered for two additional years without re-nomination.

Presentation of Award:

The College community will be invited to the award presentation ceremony, which will feature a lecture by the recipient. The awardee will receive a $5,000 honorarium.
