New York Medical College Intramural Research Support Program

One component of New York Medical College's effort to foster biomedical, behavioral, and other health-related research is the College's Intramural Research Support Program. This program is intended primarily to assist newly independent investigators to secure extramural support; it is not intended to add to a well-funded laboratory. We strongly encourage submission of proposals from faculty at our affiliated hospitals and for clinical research projects.

Funding for this program is provided through designated private NYMC endowments: The New York Medical College Fund, a research endowment established by the Alumni Association, parents, faculty, students and staff and the Castle-Krob Fund, established by John K. Castle, former Chairman and an honorary member of the Board of Trustees.

The Fellowship Review and Intramural Research Grants Committee will review all applications and recommend funding.


APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED

This program will provide up to $10,000 for one year and is limited to full-time faculty without current funding for the proposed research project and is intended to support:

1. New investigators whose research proposals will generate sufficient preliminary data to compete for extramural funds. The likelihood that the proposed research will generate extramural funding will be weighed heavily in the review process.
2. Established investigators who are without current extramural support. In general, such investigators must have had at least five years of prior extramural support and a currently pending application to an extramural source.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION

The application file, in .pdf format, must be submitted as an e-mail attachment to: ORA@nymc.edu.  Applications not submitted in .pdf format will not be considered.

The current version of the College forms, Application to Conduct Sponsored Program or Do Research, must also be completed.  College forms may be found at:   http://www.nymc.edu/resadmin/internal_forms.asp.

The following must be received in the Office of Research Administration by Friday, November 7, 2008:

• The e-mailed application in .pdf format (this does not include the College forms)

• One complete hard copy of the application

• The original signed College forms (if the project has human involvement, the Human Subjects section of the forms may be deferred until award notification)

Start date for the Award is anticipated to be: February 1, 2008.
