Children's Health Translational Science Institute

  • Founded: 2015
  • Mission: The primary mission of the Children's Health Translational Science Institute is to provide the infrastructure to conduct nationally competitive translational research, both by leveraging the capabilities of NYMC scientists and clinical investigators at WMC, and through the development of durable partnerships with the academic and industry sectors.
  • Current research: The Children's Health TSI organized a planning workshop in January 2016 to present and discuss current and proposed research initiatives, with the participation of basic scientists and clinical investigators.  The workshop  was well-attended and successful in: 1) stimulating crosstalk among researchers, and 2) identifying areas of overlap in interest and expertise in specific topics.  Following the success of the workshop, the Children's Health TSI leadership embarked on the identification of specific research projects and requested the submission of brief program proposals, primarily emanating from collaboration between NYMC scientists and clinicians at WMC.
