Advanced Certificate in Health Administration

Advanced Certificate in Health Administration

Inspire and Lead Excellence in Health Care

The 15-credit Advanced Certificate in Health Administration is designed to provide the knowledge and skill set needed in managing and directing the health departments, hospitals, clinics, and other health care facilities.

The curriculum is designed to address the competencies most frequently needed in health care administrators:

  • Knowledge of the health care environment
  • Communication and relationship management
  • Professionalism
  • Leadership
  • Business skills and knowledge

The program's coursework will build on your communication skills and enhance your abilities to effectively share your organization's vision.  You will learn to build and manage relationships and guide groups toward compromise.  Discussions will focus on the impact and effects of the politics of health insurance and health care.  Our curriculum will empower you with tools to establish and foster an organizational culture that values personal and professional accountability.

It will expand your knowledge of health care systems and organizations from the perspectives of patient and care givers, as well as the community and government.  Graduates will be prepared to set the organizational direction of a wide variety of health care organizations.

This program is recommended for health care managers – and those who aspire to management in the field.

The Advanced Certificate in Health Administration is offered in a fully online distance education format.

The certificate may be taken independently and upon completion may serve as an entry to the M.P.H., or it may be completed as part of an M.P.H. degree in any of the degree program areas.

The certificate can be taken by any student except those earning an M.P.H. in Health Policy & Administration.  Hours earned may be applied toward one’s M.P.H.
