Alliance for Childhood

An organization of professionals, including educators, MDs, SLPs, and psychologists addressing public policy issues relating to the well-being (emphasis on non-physical concerns) of children.

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association

ASHA is the national credentialing body for institutions and professionals in Audiology and Speech-Language-Pathology. ASHA plays an important role in advocating for persons with speech and hearing handicaps, and for the professionals who serve them.

Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders

The CAPCSD is an organization of program directors which has provided leadership in formulating and implementing policies regarding standards of education, clinical training, and accreditation standards.

Closing the Gap

This organization is a major resource (if not THE major resource) for computer technology in special education and rehabilitation. The site contains a newsletter, a resource directory (a jewel of a resource), a library, various forums, classifieds, a calendar of events, and information about the annual Closing the Gap conference.

This site from the University Medical School at Debrechen, Hungary is self-described as "A guide for medical students, residents, and other health professionals." It contains pages on neuroanatomy, neurohistology, and neuropathology, as well as an impressive array of related links around the world.

The Neurology and Neurosurgery Forum

Patients, their families and other interested individuals post questions in this forum, which are answered by doctors from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. The forum is easily searched for specific disorders. This is an open forum, so be sure to be ready to "separate the wheat from the chaff."

This site offers CT scans, MRIs, and SPECT neuroimaging of agreat variety of neuropathologies. Each set of images is accompanied by a clinical history. Fascinating. You can lose hours here, and never notice.
