WHAT OUR STUDENTS AND ALUMNI HAVE TO SAY
“This program has helped me develop
into the person I want to be, professionally and personally. I used to
be the wallflower, the quiet bookworm who had questions or ideas but
was usually too afraid to speak up. The faculty and fellow students
provided a safe and nurturing environment in which I could express
myself and my ideas without fear of scrutiny. The lines of
communication were always open and the respect is mutual. Through the
program, I exercised leadership skills I didn’t even know I had. I
also gained confidence in applying what I learned in class to real
world situations. By the first affiliation, I felt more than prepared
to make the best of the experience. I have come away being unafraid to
be the first to speak and self-assured in novel situations.”

“I originally heard
about NYMC through a physical therapist with whom I worked. After
doing further research I realized the opportunities NYMC had to offer.
The PBL format sparked an interest in me. Being able to work in small
groups and learn independently supports my learning style. NYMC and
the P.T. faculty are supportive and care about each student as an
individual.”

“With
an eight year lapse since my bachelor's studies, I was very concerned
about competing with younger, more recent undergraduate students and
in general, worried about returning to the rigorous study schedule of
a graduate program. New York Medical College dispelled those
fears by fostering a non-competitive atmosphere based on healthy group
dynamics. However, I am most impressed with the caliber of professors
in this program. My clinical skills are being developed by professors
who are still active physical therapists, and the faculty are all
active in cutting edge research or publishing papers and somehow still
manage to find the time to always be there for me, whether in their
office, on the phone, or by email.”

“Coming all the way
from California was a big change, but I could not be happier that I
chose NYMC. The faculty and students make this an experience that is
well worth the move. The classes are interactive and help make the
learning experience more personal. I know that I am getting a great
education that will carry me through to achieve my goal to becoming a
great PT!”

"There are many
different reasons I chose NYMC. One of the main reasons is the
problem-based learning style that is unique to the college. It gives
you the proper skills and training to go into the world of Physical
Therapy ready and able to take on any challenge. I was also drawn to
NYMC because of the atmosphere of the campus and faculty. I have
always attended large schools, so I was eager to have teachers who
knew my face and name. The faculty is always willing to give a
helping hand to those who need it and are always understanding and
approachable. Also, the campus has an inviting feel and is very
conducive to learning. My time at NYMC has been a memorable one, and
I know it will prepare me to become a very confident and capable
physical therapist.”

“Upon interviewing
here at New York Medical College, I felt very welcomed and encouraged
by the faculty who I have come to learn are very dedicated to the
academic and personal growth of their students. Having attended
schools nowhere near as small as NYMC, I definitely enjoy the
closeness and ease in communicating with the faculty. As for the
educational component of the DPT program, what I like is that while we
are instilled with a strong foundation in the basics of Physical
Therapy and related health sciences, we are challenged to become
self-directed and independent learners- qualities that I believe are
important for our professional development. Our development as
competent physical therapists is also shaped by the many hands-on
learning opportunities we are given such as working with classmates in
PT labs and with actual patients during clinical site visits.
Finally, being a California native and first-timer to New York, my
decision to move across the country was due in part to the location of
the school: The Hudson River Valley is beautiful with all of its
nature and yet, I am only a short train ride away from one of the most
happening cities in the world!”
