New York Medical College

School of Health Sciences and Practice

Institute of Public Health

The Institute of Public Health encompasses the School’s centers of excellence – Center for Disaster Medicine, Center on Disability and Health, Center for Medical Outcomes Research and the Center for Long Term Care Research and Policy. It draws upon the resources of the academic departments of Environmental Health Science, Epidemiology and Community Health, and Health Policy and Management. In addition, the Institute is the entity through which the School cooperates and engages with the external community, including governmental and community organizations. For example, the Public Health Practice Council, composed of the health commissioners and public health directors of nine local jurisdictions, is convened by the Dean and serves to coordinate regional health planning, workforce development, and public health grants.
