April 24, 2012 - 27th Annual Student Physician Awareness Day (SPAD) - is an annual event instituted in 1989 by New York Medical College students wishing to provide an alternative to the typical medical school curriculum by offering a day of learning about topics they consider relevant to their futures as practicing physicians. Over the years, SPAD conferences have addressed complementary and alternative medicine, the business of healthcare and medical practice, healthcare disparities and humanism in medicine.
