Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
A Note About This Year's Commencement From The Chancellor
To the May 2020 graduates of New York Medical College (NYMC) and the Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) at NYMC:
We received confirmation from the Westchester County Center that this facility will be transformed into a temporary hospital to accommodate COVID-19 cases. Construction at the County Center is beginning immediately. Given this development, it has become impossible to host our scheduled commencement exercises in-person. The ceremony will now be conducted virtually. Additional information on NYMC and the Touro College of Dental Medicine's virtual Commencements, included the planned date(s) and time(s) is forthcoming.
As we continue to adjust and thrive during these difficult times, my hope for us all is that we stay healthy, show patience and care for each other. We will do more than get through this one day at a time, we will do great things together. I am reminded of the author William Faulkner's 1950 Nobel Prize in Literature acceptance speech.
I believe that man will not merely endure: he will prevail. He is immortal, not because he alone among creatures has an inexhaustible voice, but because he has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance.
Our compassion and endurance is being tested, but we will prevail -- and we will do it together.
