Packing Checklist: what to bring and what to leave behind

If you have any questions, housing@nymc.edu, but first review the info below. Both Grasslands 1 & 2 have:

  • Kitchens equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, oven/stove, and microwave.
  • Bathrooms are fitted with a shower curtain.
  • Heat is provided in all apartments.

There is no extra storage space is available on campus, so pack accordingly!

No central air is available and you will get your own AC, as per the guidelines on the Living On Campus page.

Furniture

Grasslands 1: Unfurnished Housing

Grasslands 1 has two different levels with apartments across 10 buildings. Odd numbers are downstairs and even are upstairs. Bedrooms are about 11' by 13'. We do not have the exact measurements of every individual apartment.

Recommended Furniture to Bring:

  • Bed: Full or Queen will fit
  • Desk & Chair
  • Dresser
  • Small Dining Table & Chairs
  • Couch/Loveseat/Futon
  • End Table or Coffee Table

Grasslands 2: Furnished Housing

Grasslands 2 has five different buildings all with four stories each; there is no elevator in any apartments on campus. You may provide your own furniture, but NYMC furniture cannot leave the bedroom/apartment at any time.

What Not to Bring

As you prepare to move in, please be aware of the following restrictions to ensure a safe and harmonious living environment for everyone:
