OB Residents 2020 OB Residents 2020

Dear Future and Prospective Residents,

We are excited to meet you, and for you to get to explore all of the exciting and unique aspects of our residency program!

OBGYN residency is extremely rewarding and challenging and we would like to highlight some of the reasons New York Medical College is an excellent place to continue your training.

Our program is founded within two institutions: Westchester Medical Center and Metropolitan Hospital Center. Between these two medical centers, we have exposure to a vast and diverse patient population and all subspecialities including: pediatric gynecology, urogynecology, minimally invasive gynecology, gynecologic oncology, family planning, and reproductive endocrinology. Additionally, we train with generalist and subspecialist attendings who are excellent mentors and support us in a wide range of academic and research pursuits.

These two clinical settings allow for the development of different skill sets. At Metropolitan Hospital, we manage many low risk patients, and provide care to many underserved, inner city, and international communities. This exposure offers us a very unique clinical learning experience that is both rewarding and challenging. Residents take true ownership over these patients and often get to know patients and their families very well. It is not uncommon to care for multiple generations of one family or deliver different members of an extended family.

At Westchester, we see everything! As a referral center for seven counties in New York, we get a wide range of patients with a variety of high acuity issues. Among many things, we develop excellent ultrasound skills during our time at Westchester, and by the end of the intern year, feel extremely comfortable with doing most, if not all, sonographic exams. We have an exceptional level IV NICU and work closely with their team, which also enhances our education. In fact, we often collaborate with multiple teams on our complicated patients and learn a lot doing so.

As with most programs, we spend a lot of time in the hospital. We love our midwives, PAs, NPs, and nurses and can often be found celebrating birthdays, baby showers, retirements, and lots of other life events and holidays together. We truly are a family and this support helps us get through the best of times and worst of times.

We look forward to meeting you!

Best wishes,
Your future Co-Residents
