The Biomedical Ethics and Humanities Program at New York Medical College, in Valhalla, NY seeks a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor level faculty member in clinical ethics and bioethics to join us in establishing a Graduate Program in the Biomedical Ethics and Humanities. The program will include a Master of Science Degree and a Certificate Program. Additionally, there will be opportunities to take individual courses that can be used for personal development, life-long learning and micro-credentialing. This is primarily an educator position, though pursuit of research and ethics consultation is encouraged/ expected.

Responsibilities include: Teaching the equivalent of three courses per semester, though coursework could be spread out to include summer sessions. It may also include teaching in one of the other health professional programs at NYMC. Professor will have clinical ethics consultation responsibilities at one of NYMC’s hospital affiliates; will mentor health professional and graduate students; and will help to create and teach continuing education programs. Candidate will be working with the Director on organizing meetings, conferences, and research projects as well as pursuing a line of bioethical research and inquiry that leads to presentations at national meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals

Successful candidate must have an M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Areas of work within bioethics that will receive preference are pediatric ethics, geriatric ethics, Artificial Intelligence and big data, genetics, and/or organizational ethics.

This is a two-year appointment effective July 1, 2020-June 30, 2022. This appointment is renewable, contingent upon successful reappointment, and may be turned into a tenure track position.
