The Office of Student Mental Health and Wellness is here to support students through counseling, advocacy, psychiatric evaluation, consultation, psycho-educational events, workshops, and wellness programs. All services are free and confidential.
We offer a range of services both in person and through telehealth from supportive psychotherapy focused on identifying and enhancing coping skills to consultation and assessment of all psychiatric conditions and treatments including psychotherapy, and referral for psychopharmacotherapy. Services are delivered through NYMC clinicians and in partnership with Teladoc. Please note:
Teladoc gives you access to board-certified psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, or psychologists by phone or video. This is a telehealth service only. Services are free, with unlimited sessions, available seven days a week. Download the app for easy access.

Concierge Student Assistance Services through Health Advocate. This comprehensive student assistance program provides 24/7 access to the right tools to help you through some of life's toughest challenges, including resources to balance school, work, and life. This is confidential, short-term assistance, focusing on coping skills for a full range of emotional, family, and other personal issues. This is available for after-hour support or concerns. A small percentage of students will need an alternative to Teladoc for psychiatric services. We have therefore developed a partnership, for eligible students to access virtual psychiatric care utilizing their insurance. The Assistance for the Impaired Medical Student (AIMS) Program at New York Medical College (NYMC) was developed to address the risk of development of alcohol and substance use and abuse in medical school students. The primary purpose of the AIMS program is to identify, prevent and treat impairments related to alcohol and/or other substance abuse. With an increased awareness of the tremendous social, and medical problems from alcohol/substance abuse early in their careers, and the establishment of clear guidelines, it is hoped that students and physicians can get the help they need to reduce the prevalence of these disorders. The primary purpose of the AIMS program is to identify, prevent and treat impairments related to alcohol/substance abuse. The program has five goals:
