Eric Wold, M.D.
New York Medical College
Westchester Medical Center
Dr. Wold is the chairman of the medical ethics committee and runs the ethics consult service at Westchester Medical Center, a busy consult service that provides ethics advice and conflict resolution to the physicians at WMC. Eric gives several conferences every year to the housestaff regarding ethics, end-of-life care and decision making under difficult circumstances. Dr. Wold spends much of his time as an academic hospitalist who supervises a resident floor team and takes care of high-acuity patients at WMC.
Specialists in internal medicine are commonly called internists. Because their patients are often seriously ill or require complex investigations, internists do much of their work in hospitals. In modern practice, most internists are subspecialists: that is, they generally limit their medical practice to problems of one organ system or to one particular area of medical knowledge.
