Visiting Student Electives


The Department of Psychiatry of New York Medical College offers a number of electives to visiting fourth year medical students from US allopathic and osteopathic medical schools, Tokai University School of Medicine, The Catholic University of Korea, Semmelweis University, Technion Israel - Institute of Technology, and Autonomous University of Guadalajara. Applications must be made through the Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS) of AAMC at Students of New York Medical College are given first preference and other students are scheduled for electives when there is availability. A maximum of 12 weeks of elective time can be scheduled. More information about the student electives is available here.

The electives are overseen by Jay Draoua, MD, Director of Undergraduate Medical Education, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Students with an interest in pursuing psychiatry residency training will meet with Wendy Thompson, MD, Associate Chair for Education and Residency Training Director during their elective time.
