BioInc@NYMC Hosts Forum for the Hudson Valley's Biomedical and Technology Start-Up Community

On February 17, Randi D. Schwartz, M.B.A., far right, director of BioInc@NYMC and associate dean for academic administration, School of Medicine, moderated a panel of five experts focused on growing and supporting biomedical innovation for a gathering of inventors, investors, start-ups, and other experts from the Hudson Valley's thriving biomedical community. The forum, held at BioInc@NYMC's Dana Road facility, discussed issues ranging from intellectual property to patents and the role of incubators such as BioInc@NYMC. The panel, from left were: Laurence Gottlieb, president and chief executive officer of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation; Amy Gallup Klann, counsel, Leason Ellis; Marc Zemel, M.B.A., managing director, MKM Ventures, LLC, chief executive officer and co-founder of MOE Medical Devices and Retia Medical; Josephine Young, associate, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP; and Brian Pomper, executive director of the Innovation Alliance. Nathan Tinker (not pictured), executive director of New York Biotechnology Association, was the guest speaker.
