Department of Physical Therapy Hosts 19th Annual Doctoral Project Presentation Day
Nine Groups Presented Their Findings in the Areas of Clinical Research, Education and Public Health Service

For the first time since 2019, the Department of Physical Therapy at New York Medical College (NYMC) hosted its annual doctoral project presentation day in person. Forty-two students, split into nine different groups, presented their research in various areas concerning the field of physical therapy, ranging from the impact of line dancing on cogitative function, to teaching cultural competence in the physical therapy curriculum. The keynote presentation was delivered by Victor Santamaria, Ph.D., PT, MS, PCS, assistant professor of physical therapy.
Dr. Santamaria’s presentation, “From the Clinic to the Lab, and Back to the Clinic., summarized his trajectory as a clinician and as a researcher to address how physical therapists need to follow their passions and feel motivated about their careers in helping others.
